Descripció i Metodologia: |
This course is designed to help teachers develop writing skills for today’s secondary students and will focus on three main themes:
1) the nature of EFL writing and why it is difficult to teach and learn as a skill
2) process vs. product and how this affects how and what we write; and,
3) what it means to write in the digital age.
Several strategies, materials and instruments will be presented to help teachers motivate and engage and meet the challenges of today’s secondary classroom. A number of traditional and digital writing activities will also be carried out and all participants will develop a PLE (Personal Learning Environment) to showcase and completed work, activities and resources collected throughout the course.

Objectius |
1. To understand the challenges of teaching writing in the EFL secondary classroom and learn effective ways to engage and support learners through
meaningful, dialogic, and collaborative instructional activities that promote traditional and digital writing competencies.
2. To explore practical ideas, strategies, techniques, activities and resources that help develop writing skills and competencies
3. To design skill-integrated tasks which and promote collaboration and writing process competencies such as planning, drafting and revising along as well as digital competencies
4. To explore and develop evaluation criteria, instruments and rubrics for both teachers and students for ongoing formative assessment

Avaluació |
Participants will be evaluated on participation in the class activities, discussions and work sessions along with the completion of a PLE (Personal Learning Environment) and course wiki which will house all activities and resources collected and completed during the course individually and collectively.

Requisits de certificació |
1.Minimum attendance: 80% of face to face hours.
2.Participants will be required to do a task or tasks e related to the course content. All tasks must be completed to certificate this course.
